Hi everyone:
Are you into IT? If yes, please pay attention.
Eight years ago, someone reached out to me asking me for help about her career. Beyond the career, she had requested a training service from a service provider and along with that came a "FREE" resume creation.
That was good. The disturbing part was that the resume did not truly represent her, her experience and her ability. In fact, instead of gaining confidence from it, she lost all confidence.
Unfortunately, I couldn't help her out with her resume. Why? The resume writing service for Canadian immigrants was - and still is a dark market. Before I met her, I had other confidants who shared their unwholesome experience with me. I was warned to be careful so, I vowed never to get tainted with that.
I used to train Business Analysts (I paused that for now) and one primary request from my students was to help them revamp or create true resumes but I never did. However, I would provide them feedback on their resume. That was it.
About four years ago, a hiring manager friend of mine reached out to me literary in tears about her experience with two applicants who apparently had the same resume {and typo :) }. Unknown to each other, both of them had applied for the same role at her organization. Needless to say, they were caught and naturally ousted from the recruitment process. Then she asked me, “Are you aware of anyone who creates phantom resumes for immigrants to help them secure jobs in Canada?”. Without mincing words, I said I was aware of the service but no specific individual involved in that unscrupulous service. We discussed at length.
What’s my point? There are loads of people with such resumes all around us and obviously, that market is fed by bad actors or service providers. I never wanted and still don’t want to be named as one of the bad eggs, which is my main reason for running from the service for years. In fact, in the FAQ section of my refreshed personal website, I clearly said “No, I don’t” offer resume writing services.
However, all that is now changing. I will now offer resume writing or revamping service BUT for a fee. How much? I have no idea just yet. Also, please note that this would be limited to IT professionals ONLY since that is my professional background and so I feel I can add more value to people with similar experience as mine.
What’s the current status? I have a framework that I have come up with for creating a resume that represents you accurately - no lies, no embellishments, just an accurate representation of your credentials and experience created from the grounds up. It is currently in testing phase and as part of that, I am giving five (5) Immigrant Life members the opportunity to work with me on finetuning that process. Again, you must be an IT professional and this is a pilot run so you can expect some glitches and delays here and there.
The outcome for you? A well crafted professional resume for you FREE of charge. What’s in it for me? A better service process and hopefully, an authentic Google review of your experience with this service - the good, the bad and the ugly. I need this.
