The hidden flaw in Canada's Immigration System
Canada boasts a record number of immigration levels, especially with respect to economic immigrants. This class of immigrants also known as immigrant professionals are people who moved here from other countries primarily for economic reasons such as seeking employment opportunities, starting a business, or investing in Canada’s economy.
On May 2nd, 2024, I had the honor of delivering a TEDx talk at the prestigious Royal Roads University, Victoria in BC. I focused that talk on immigrant professionals like myself because that is who I am and that was my lived experience.
Behind the glamorous immigration data that Canada publishes, there is a story behind every single statistic, and I shared mine on May 2nd. The question I attempted to answer was, “What happens when skilled professionals leave everything behind to chase their dream in Canada?
